In 1970, the Robert Martin Company, which pioneered the development of executive office parks, started construction on its first office park, Cross Westchester Office Park, in Elmsford, NY. In 1972, the Company built its first office building, 77 Tarrytown Road in Hartsdale, NY. Throughout the 70s, the Company developed and built five condominium developments encompassing 1500 units and constructed four executive parks in Westchester County, which ultimately contained five million square feet of office and flex buildings. In addition, the Company built three shopping centers and five rental apartment houses and played a significant role in Urban Renewal Development in Greenburgh, Tarrytown and downtown White Plains. The Company constructed over one million square feet of mid and hi-rise office buildings in White Plains, as well as a major hotel.

1980s

In 1986, Robert Martin completed the Westchester Financial Center, a landmark development with two office buildings totaling 800,000 square feet and one 124-unit residential building. At the Center, the company later opened the Robert Martin Art Gallery, a permanent art collection acquired for the enjoyment of Robert Martin tenants and staff. The Robert Martin Company became well known for its support of the arts in Westchester County and the Beautification Committee of White Plains.

1990s

In the early 1990s, the Company curtailed its construction activities due to reduced demand for office space. In January 1997, the Robert Martin Company merged into Cali Realty Corporation, adding 65 office, office/flex and industrial properties to Cali's portfolio.
