On 9/11/02, Mack-Cali dedicated "Dauntless Efforts," a sculpture commissioned by the company to honor the efforts of rescue and recovery workers after the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center. Mack-Cali Chief Executive Officer Mitchell E. Hersh, Jersey City Mayor Glenn Cunningham, U.S. Congressman Robert Menendez and New Jersey State Senator Bernard Kenny spoke at the event, which took place at Harborside Financial Center in Jersey City, New Jersey.
The sculpture, created by Jersey City ProArts member Matthew Johnson (Click here for the artist's statement.), shows a silhouette of an ironworker amidst the World Trade Center rubble. (The rubble in the steel sculpture is from the actual wreckage of the World Trade Center ruins.) "Dauntless Efforts" was placed along a walkway adjacent to Harborside Financial Center Plaza 5.
