Mack-Cali Restroom Occupancy Sensors Save Energy on Lighting

Did you know that studies have shown that office restrooms are unoccupied about 68% of a typical workday? Restroom lights therefore are often big wasters of energy.

To reduce such light usage and increase energy efficiency in its buildings, Mack-Cali has installed occupancy sensors in many common area restrooms in its New Jersey and New York properties. These sensors work by keeping the lights on for a minimum of 15 minutes once an occupant enters the room. Upon full sensor installation, the buildings will save up to 263,000 kWhs annually.

Mack-Cali has been an EPA Energy Star buildings partner since 1999 and is committed to increasing energy efficiency. Mack-Cali welcomes any suggestions on reducing energy use in your building and encourages you to contact your property manager with any ideas.
