"Run for Miracles" to Benefit Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at White Plains Hospital

Edison, New Jersey—October 6, 2010—Mack-Cali Realty Corporation and the City of White Plains Department of Recreation and Parks today announced changes to their upcoming annual 5K Race, expanding its scope in order to attract more participants and raise more money for a worthy cause. The event will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2010.

Among the changes to the popular event, now in its 13th year, will be a new name. Beginning this year, all proceeds from the “Run for Miracles” will directly benefit the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at White Plains Hospital. The race, now a 5K, also includes a one-mile walk and a youth race, thereby appealing to a broader array of participants – runners, walkers and families.

This year, the White Plains Business Improvement District (BID) is joining Mack-Cali, the City, and White Plains Hospital in sponsoring and coordinating the event. Also among the changes is a more scenic route closer to the Hospital that takes participants through the Highlands section of White Plains.

Mack-Cali’s vice president of leasing, Jeffrey Warner, commented, “We’re delighted that this year we have several new partners to make this event bigger and better than ever. We’re all working together toward a common goal of raising as many funds as possible for the NICU at White Plains Hospital. The work they do there makes miracles happen for thousands of families in the Westchester County area, and we’re proud to support their incredible efforts.”

Dr. Jesus Jaile-Marti, chief of Neonatology at White Plains Hospital, commented, “The NICU at White Plains Hospital Center offers one of the most advanced programs in the area and provides state-of-the-art monitoring, physical therapy, and respiratory and nutritional support for the babies. We are so appreciative of the efforts of all involved in this exciting event. Funds raised will allow us to advance some of the next generation of safety initiatives and help ensure the hospital staff can continue to provide the most extraordinary care for the newborns and their families.”

The race starts at the intersection of Maple and Davis avenues and begins at 9 a.m. The youth race begins at 8:30 a.m. Online registration is available at
